Raspberry Pi OS With Desktop

Raspberry PI OS Desktop versions come with a default Graphical User Interface. Based on Pixel, it aims to be light and to run fast in your Raspberry Pi. The desktop version includes all the scripts to display the icons. It also includes all the tools to configure your environment and utilities to interface other programs/applications. Command Line interface is still available using terminal window. Like all Desktop environments, even if optimized it requires anyway addicting packages and software, RAM and CPU usage will result increased if compared to Lite version. Raspberry PI OS Desktop requires keyboard, mouse and monitor, at least until you will configure remote desktop service.

Raspberry Pi Zero W

Raspberry Pi Zero W

The Raspberry Pi is a popular Single Board Computer in that it is a full computer packed into a single board. Many may already familiar with the Raspberry Pi 4 and its predecessors, which comes in a form factor that has become as highly recognizable. The Raspberry Pi comes in an even smaller form factor. The introduction of the Raspberry Pi Zero allowed one to embed an entire computer in even smaller projects. While these directions should work for most any version and form factor of the Raspberry Pi Zero W.

The credit-card-sized computer has become even smaller. The Raspberry Pi Zero W is still the Pi you know and love, but at a largely reduced size of only 65mm long by 30mm wide. With the addition of wireless LAN and Bluetooth, the Raspberry Pi Zero W is ideal for making embedded IoT projects. The Pi Zero W has been designed to be as flexible and compact as possible with mini connectors and an unpopulated 40-pin GPIO, allowing you to use only what your project requires.

At the heart of the Raspberry Pi Zero W is a 1GHz BCM2835 single-core processor with 512MB RAM. The setup for the Raspberry Pi Zero W is a little more complicated than on other Pis.

Etcher

balenaEtcher is a free and open-source utility used for writing image files such as .iso and .img files, as well as zipped folders onto storage media to create live SD cards and USB flash drives.

Raspberry Pi NoIR Camera V2.1

The infrared Camera Module v2 (Pi NoIR) has a Sony IMX219 8-megapixel sensor custom designed add-on board for Raspberry Pi, featuring a fixed focus lens. It’s capable of 3280 x 2464 pixel static images, and also support 1080p30, 720p60, and 640x480p60/90 video. The Pi NoIR gives you everything the regular Camera Module offers, with one difference: it does not employ an infrared filter. This means that pictures you take by daylight will look decidedly curious, but it gives you the ability to see in the dark with infrared lighting.

We bundle a little square of blue gel with the Pi NoIR “night vision”, which you can use with the camera to monitor the health of green plants. The Pi NoIR is very popular among wildlife hobbyists: with a few infrared LEDs, you can monitor what nocturnal animals are doing in your garden without disturbing them. It attaches to the Pi by way of one of the small sockets on the board’s upper surface and uses the dedicated CSi interface, designed especially for interfacing to cameras. The NoIR Camera has No InfraRed (NoIR) filter on the lens which makes it perfect for doing Infrared photography and taking pictures in low light (twilight) environments.

Features

Improved Resolution

* 8 megapixel native resolution high quality Sony IMX219 image sensor
* Cameras are capable of 3280 x 2464 pixel static images

Raspberry Pi 7” Touchscreen Display

The 7” Touchscreen Monitor for Raspberry Pi gives users the ability to create all-in-one, integrated projects such as tablets, infotainment systems and embedded projects. The 800 x 480 display connects via an adapter board which handles power and signal conversion. Only two connections to the Pi are required; power from the Pi’s GPIO port and a ribbon cable that connects to the DSI port present on all Raspberry Pi’s. Touchscreen drivers with support for 10-finger touch and an on-screen keyboard will be integrated into the latest Raspbian OS for full functionality without the need for a physical keyboard or mouse.

Technical Specification:

* 7” Touchscreen Display
* Screen Dimensions: 194mm x 110mm x 20mm (including standoffs)
* Viewable screen size: 155mm x 86mm
* Screen Resolution 800 x 480 pixels
* 10 finger capacitive touch
* Connects to the Raspberry Pi board using a ribbon cable connected to the DSI port
* Adapter board is used to power the display and convert the parallel signals from the display to the serial (DSI) port on the Raspberry Pi
* Will require the latest version of Raspbian OS to operate correctly

Features and Benefits:

* Turn your Raspberry Pi into a touch screen tablet, infotainment system, or standalone device.
* Truly Interactive – the latest software drivers will support a virtual ‘on screen’ keyboard, so there is no need to plug in a keyboard and mouse.
* Make your own ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT) devices including a visual display. Simply connect your Raspberry Pi, develop a Python script to interact with the display, and you’re ready to create your own home automation devices with touch screen capability.
* A range of educational software and programs available on the Raspberry Pi will be touch enabled, making learning and programming easier on the Raspberry Pi.

Kit Contents:

* 7” Touchscreen Display
* Adapter Board
* DSI Ribbon cable
* 4 x stand-offs and screws (used to mount the adapter board and Raspberry Pi board to the back of the display

Raspberry Pi 3 Model B

Product Details

Raspberry Pi 3 Model B

The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B looks identical to the Pi 2 B at first glance. It is the same size and has much of the same components on board. So what is the difference? The new Pi 3 brings more processing power and on-board connectivity, saving you time with the development of your applications. Perfect for your Internet of Things (IoT) designs.

Pi 3 compared to Pi 2

* More processor speed. The CPU on the Pi 3 is one and a half times faster at 1.2 GHz. Your Pi board performs better.
* On-board connectivity. The Pi 3 features 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz Wireless LAN and Bluetooth Classic & Low Energy (BLE). You can get connected much quicker without the need for any external device.
* 2.5 A power supply. With more processor speed and on-board connectivity, you’ll need more power. Power supplies for previous Pi boards will not be sufficient. You will need the Official Raspberry Pi 3 Power Supply (9098126 — white) or (9098135 — black).
* New components. The Pi 3 features a chip antenna where status LEDs were located previously. The status LEDs are still on the board, right next to the microSD card slot.

New to Raspberry Pi?

The Raspberry Pi is a single computer board — developed to encourage and aid the teaching of programming and computing. It is also a fantastic starting point for the development of the Internet of Things (IoT) projects. The low cost and ‘plug and play’ nature of Pi makes for a board that is accessible to all and has numerous connectivity options. Pi is the perfect experimental tool, whether you want to use it as a desktop computer, media centre, server or monitoring/security device within your home. No limits. Linux-based operating systems run on the Pi with plenty of access to free software and downloads. What is more, there is a great Pi community out there — look at DesignSpark, the design engineer community at RS.

Features & Benefits of the Pi 3

* Broadcom BCM2837 chipset running at 1.2 GHz
* 64-bit quad-core ARM Cortex-A53
